Our performance space can be shaped in so many ways. We’ve welcomed in dance groups, music-making and drama groups, and family arts and crafts sessions, but to uniquely bring our month of May events to a close, Ebony Reels Black Film Club and Broadway Cinema in Nottingham installed a fantastic pop-up cinema for audiences to enjoy Senegalese acclaimed film, Banel & Adama, first screened and celebrated at Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Thanks to Ebony Reels for selecting our venue to host a screening event and thanks to Broadway Cinema for supporting the event with equipment.

We also welcomed Gambian Griot and Musician, Ansumana Suso, into our space to support the special screening with a performance of traditional West African pieces played beautifully on kora. Ansumana mesmerised everyone and filled the room with joyful and emotive music before we ventured into the main event. Thanks to Anusmana for sharing his music and culture with us all. This was a very special event indeed!
